How to Sponsor A Learning Through Technology Program
Dear Friend,

Thank you for your interest in our "Learning Through Technology" program as a service to your clients, members of friends. NTR is a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization. In its continuing effort to better serve the community, NTR has initiated the Learning Through Technology program to make computers and basic hardware instruction available to children and adults age 7 and older who are served by community groups, companies, churches and schools.

In addition to getting to keep the computers at the end of the class(es), the people participating in the program will get hands-on training in computer disassembly and reassembly. Depending on the number of classes you choose to offer, your clients can learn how to swap parts that are bad and how to use basic diagnostic software to determine what needs to be done to get a stubborn computer up and running. Our most elementary class, which starts at $100 per student, provides an experience in hardware disassembly and reassembly and an introduction to the names of the computer parts.

We can offer any number of classes from one to twenty sessions in a class series. The cost for longer class series is determined by a number of variables. Please call us for a project quotation.

NTR also offers instruction in office software at your office or in our computer lab. These classes are offered at $100/hour for one instructor. Software classes for up to 15 students at a time are available at our training facility.

Here are some benefits of our Learning Through Technology program:

  • NTR will provide one "486" (or better) computer system per student for the students to keep at the end of the program.
  • NTR will provide a source of spare parts to ensure that all computers are working before they are given to the students.
  • Each computer system the participants take home will include a keyboard, VGA monitor, appropriate cables, and a mouse.
  • NTR will also provide extension cords and electrical power strips for use in the classes, but these will not be given to the students.
  •
  • In order to maintain the very low costs for Learning Through Technology, here are some requirements for participation in our classes:
    • Our minimum class size is 10 students. We can work with up to 20 people at a time.
    • The cost of multiple session programs is dependent upon set-up time, transportation and other factors (call for a quote).
    • For programs conducted away from our training lab, we will expect to make use of an air-conditioned room which has tables, chairs and storage space for the equipment. Each student will need a 4’ x 3’ table - or about 1/2 of an office desk. There is an additional charge of $100 for delivery of the computers within 25 miles of our office.
    • We will expect that your staff will assist in maintaining discipline or provide language translation, if that is needed.
    • A parent or other adult should accompany each child under 11 years of age. While we will agree to work without this help, the quality of the presentations will be greatly enhanced by the adult participation.

    Payments and refunds:

  • Ten percent of the fee will hold your choice of class dates.
  • We require full payment 2 weeks in advance of any class date.
  • All LTT classes must be paid for with at most 2 checks or money orders. The first check may be a deposit to hold your choice of dates for the class, the second check must be payment in full for the class.
  • No additional students will be accepted into the class once payment has been made.
  • Refunds will be available to people who cancel 48 hours prior to the class.
  • People who sign up for an LTT class must attend or send a substitute. No refunds will be given to absent students. No computers will be distributed to absentees.
  • The sponsoring organization is responsible for a minimum of 10 students per class. No refunds will be paid by NTR if the class size drops below 10 students.
  • Since Learning Through Technology is intended as a way for people to obtain their first computer, no person may receive more than one computer and no computers will be distributed to people who do not attend the class.
  • Computers are distributed in working condition. Computers returned within two weeks may be exchanged for other equipment or a refund at NTR’s discretion. NTR does not repair or upgrade equipment.
  • Thank you for sponsoring a Learning Through Technology program for your community.

  • For prices and specifications on available computer options, see the LTT Hardware Price List.
