The Drumcliff Foundation

Nonprofit Technology Resources sends thanks to the Drumcliff Foundation for helping ten (10) children and parents associated with the Harmonious Volunetter Center obtain free computers and a Learning Through Technology workshop from NTR.

The class was held May 13, 2000
at the Free Library of Philadelphia branch in Mantua (West Philadelphia).

Leora Oliver (right) taught the class as a VISTA Member as part of her year of service at NTR through the Americorps*VISTA program.

Irv Shannon (right), the Director of the Harmonious Volunteer Center, helped provide support for the students.

There were several family members present besides the students. Eight of the students were African American. One was a Native American and one listed herself as "other."

Three children were registered, two adults and five senior citizens. The older students said that they took the class to acquire the computers for their children or grandchildren. Eight listed themselves as part of a "low-income" family. Two were from "middle-income" families. Two of the seniors were retired. The other adults were employed. The three children are students.
